Audi's coupé is available in front-wheel drive and quattro four-wheel drive variants from £28,485 and £30,010 respectively, both with a six-speed manual transmission.
The four-cylinder, 2.0-litre TDI engine develops 168bhp at 4,200rpm and 258lb ft of torque from 1,750-2,500rpm. The front-drive version has a top speed of 140mph, with 0-62mph in 8.3sec, an EU Combined fuel consumption of 53.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 140g/km. Equivalent figures for the quattro version are 140mph, 8.2sec, 47.9mpg and 156g/km.
There are also lowered, sportier S line versions, costing £30,735 for front-drive and £32,260 for quattro all-wheel drive, featuring 18in alloy wheels, discreet body styling extras, xenon headlights, special S line steering wheel and leather seats and rear parking sensors.
The S line package can now be specified on all A5 models, at a cost of £2,250 over the standard price.
We like: Engineering quality, comfortable interior, decent ride (but don't choose Sport option), safe handling.
We don't like: Slightly conservative styling; lack of flair or coupé character
